About the session
‘Time for Young People’ is a new flagship wellbeing service from The Children’s Society and one of the first that we have designed from end to end.
This session uses a case study and hands on workshop to explore what design leadership meant in this multi-disciplinary project, from relationships and power to the role of co-design, creativity, and imagination.
We’ll share what we learnt in this process and then work together with you to dream the possible design collaborators of the future, reflecting on the key takeaways for your own work and for design more broadly.
Participant Takeaways:
- Understand the context of design leadership within a third sector organisation and the conditions that can enable or hinder it
- Have increased understanding of how to navigate multi-disciplinary strategic projects and uneven power dynamics as design leaders
- Takeaway some practical methods for building trust and understanding with a range of project collaborators, including end users
- Have the opportunity to use play and imagination to think together about the future of collaboration and collaborators in design
Themes:
Service Design, Leadership, Learning, Relationships, Inclusivity, Co-design, Retrospectives, Future Looking

- Has a session cap of 30 participants
