About the session

AI seems to be everywhere now — from unlocking our phones through face ID to giving recommendations for our next purchase. But what exactly is AI, and how can we understand its impact in different contexts?

In this hands-on workshop, participants will gain an understanding of AI: what it is, how it is used in the public sector, and how subjective visions inform its development. Using various analytical lenses, we will consider how subjectivity and positionality runs through the entire lifecycle of AI. Our approach asks questions such as: how might feminism shape the use of AI? What do regulation and standards tell us about instituting AI ethics? The session will enable participants to start asking ethical questions in projects and introduce tools and viewpoints to critically assess uses of AI.

Key takeaways for participants
