About the session

In Newham the word ‘co-design’ was used to describe a range of activities across the council and often used interchangeably with other participatory activities such as engagement.

This generated confusion about the level of involvement and decision-making residents could expect to have and created inconsistency in how we did co-design.

In this case study session we’ll take you on the Council’s journey to gain a better understanding of co-design and how we devised our co-design standards, our non-negotiable activities for doing co-design.

Participant Takeaways:
•        Learn about the confusion around co-design practice in a typical council
•        Gain insights and lessons for developing co-designs standards
•        Get your hands on Newham’s co-design standards to build upon for your own organisation

Themes:

Co-design, Design process, Framework, Influence, Local gov
